Further Information

The competition is open to fencers aged 13 and over as of 1st January 2024 with Starter, Recreational or Compete membership who are not in the British Fencing senior rankings as follows: top 100 (men) or top 50 (women). Fencers who are new to competition are particularly welcome (please make sure you tell us when you sign in).

Fencers who are not in the current senior rankings but who have won a senior open or been selected to represent their country at any time (including cadets, juniors and veterans) are unlikely to truly meet the 'novice' element of our competition and are asked to consider whether this is the competition for them. If you're unsure whether or not you meet the criteria, please email the organiser at before you enter the competition.

Previous winners are welcome to enter again, provided they still meet the criteria for competing as a novice and are fencing a different weapon (e.g. the previous winners of our epee competitions may fence foil or sabre, but not epee).
